8 Times Superhero Movies Pushed The Boundaries Of PG-13

2. Star Lord's Filthy Spaceship - Guardians Of The Galaxy

Another instance of Marvel surprising everyone - including the director - with what they allow in one of their movies. This time it's a notorious bit of sexual innuendo from Peter "Star Lord" Quill (Chris Pratt) during an hilarious scene from James Gunn's space adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy.

When Gamora (Zoe Saldana) confronts Quill about how filthy his ship is, he responds with: "She has no idea... if I had a black light, this place would look like a Jackson Pollock painting.”

Without going into too much graphic detail, Quill is implying that he's indulged in a lot of sex and/or masturbation on his ship. Gunn actually asked Pratt to say the line as a gag, never thinking it'd make the final cut, and was as shocked as everyone else when it did.

To be fair, the line would likely go over most kids' heads - but there must have been a few uncomfortable parents just praying they weren't going to be asked to explain what it meant.
