8 Unanswered Questions From 2018's Comic Book Movies

1. Can The Heart-Shaped Herb Grow Back? - Black Panther?

The Question: One of Black Panther's most iconic scenes saw Wakanda's newly appointed King, Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), ordering the nation's entire yield of Heart-Shaped Herbs to be burned down.

So, is the performance-enhancing plant gone for good, or can it return?

Prediction: On one hand, there's no guarantee that Killmonger was able to completely eradicate the herbs during his short reign, but on the other, it would retroactively undermine the meaning of this scene if he only wiped a small share of Wakanda's herb stockpile.

However, considering that we saw Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o) sneak a herb out to help heal T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman), it's not inconceivable that she stashed a few more away from which seeds could be harvested and planted.

Alternatively, the MCU could go the route of the comics and introduce a synthetic herb. Kevin Feige has confirmed that the herbs' vital properties are a result of vibranium-laced soil, so it's easy to believe that Shuri (Letitia Wright) could manufacture her own artificial herb which perhaps isn't quite as strong as the real deal.

Don't expect this to be addressed until at least the release of Black Panther 2, probably in 2021, and even then it's entirely possible it just ends up quietly forgotten about.
