6. A 2-Part Avengers 4

Quite what the end game of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is has always been an incredibly malleable concept. For a long time simply getting a handful of heroes on screen together was a mammoth task, but now it's so far reaching that the big event it's been teasing for seven movies now is really only half the story. Phase 3 will culminate by finally realising the long-hinted Infinity Gauntlet storyline, which has been at the forefront of fans' minds since The Avengers' mid-credits Thanos reveal (and on the cards since a background tease in Thor), in Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2, but that's far from the end of the whole enterprise. Kevin Feige has revealed Marvel Studios have narrative plans up to 2028, and the way things are going it could go even further than that. Even though Infinity War will no doubt be the end of many stars' (Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey, Jr.) contracts, by that point the Avengers roster will be so diversely established that an Avengers 4 is all but inevitable. Other sequels (Guardians Of The Galaxy 3, Captain America 4, follow-ons to the characters introduced in Phase 3) are dependent on ongoing popularity and revised contracts, but the team-ups will keep coming until audiences tire of superheroes or the Sun explodes and vaporises Earth (at the moment the latter is looking more likely). It's not just an Avengers 4 that's certain either - after taking the plunge with Infinity War, it's unthinkable that Marvel won't make it a two-parter (so technically it'd be Avengers 5 and 6). At current rates, expect the two movies to arrive in 2021 and 2022 respectively. As for plot: well, this seems like the best bet at the moment.
