8 Underrated Disney Film Songs From The '90s

7. Hellfire - The Hunchback Of Notre Dame

If you're wanting a Disney song that is just out and out terrifying, then look no further than Hellfire. It is a dark and downright brutal song that honestly sets the tone for most of the film. Hunchback is one of the darkest Disney classics to date and the song Hellfire just encapsulates that.

Sung by Judge Frollo, the song recants how he can't keep the evil from his soul of the wickedness he has caused, as he asks God to save him from the devil. It was probably meant to be in some kind of unrated version of Hunchback, so when it comes out in the film, everybody recoils slightly at its fire and burning intensity.

Few characters in Disney history have even been more fearsome than Frollo, whose antics in the film are just counter to the pious existence that he says he lives. So, when his song played in theatres to children everywhere, I'm sure that more than a few were heading for the exit as a result.

That said, Hellfire is a brilliant song that completely sells the character of Frollo and his struggles with a higher power.
