8 Underrated Disney Film Songs From The '90s

1. Be Prepared - The Lion King

Is there a better Disney villain than Scar? His evil is just beyond what has ever been put forward by Disney before. He is willing to kill his own family to assume the throne and be recognised as he feels he should.

He was unquestionably smarter than the rest of the characters in the film and therefore his song, Be Prepared is a moment of sheer propaganda to get an army that will do his bidding.

The Hyena are his insurrectionists, his power, his minions. The song plans their move to power and never have children been so frightened of a single Disney character. He is one of the few villains in Disney that actually succeeds in his plan, which in this case is to usurp the throne and rule Pride Rock.

A song that went a bit under the radar for many years because of the multitude of great songs in The Lion King but all these years later it is THE song of Disney villainy. The level to aspire to. Jeremy Irons' voice leant itself to Be Prepared like a fine wine to a lord and Chiwetel Ejiofor's version, whilst not bad, just wasn't up to scratch when it came to comparing it with the original.
