8 Unexpected Positives From Marvel's Ant-Man

6. The Action

As with any superhero movie, Ant-Man needed to deliver on the action sequences, and as shown in the trailer there was plenty of scope for it to have some fun with these.

Ant-Man and his nemesis Yellowjacket both have the ability to shrink and regrow pretty rapidly, with there being a greater force behind them when they€™re tiny. This means that the fight sequences get to really show this off, quickly switching between big and small and the camera follows suit, making them really stand out from what Marvel has done before.

They generally manage to strike the balance between having these action scenes feel like they€™re a genuine part of the superhero world, while keeping with the humorous tone that plays throughout the movie. The sequences may literally be on a much smaller scale to what we€™re used to in a comic-book movie, but after a number of huge climactic battles in the sky it€™s a refreshing change, and proof that bigger doesn€™t always mean better.
