8 Unexpected Positives From Marvel's Ant-Man

1. Paul Rudd

Everyone likes Paul Rudd. From his role as Mike in Friends to starring in comedies such as Role Models and I Love You, Man, he€™s constantly charismatic and relatable; basically, it should be impossible not to like him. But€can he be a superhero?

The answer is a definitive yes, he can! Rudd brings all of the charm and humour from his previous roles and packages them into one ant-sized bundle here. His delivery is absolutely perfect, while he makes you care for the character, and often manages to convey just what the audience is thinking about the ridiculousness of the situation so well that you totally buy into it.

It€™s similar in a fashion to what Chris Pratt did with Star-Lord last year, in terms of the slightly goofy comic actor becoming a superhero, but Rudd plays it quite earnestly where Pratt was cocky, and manages to hit notes that resonate in a different way, yet one that is still extremely successful. Is it going to launch him into superstardom in the same way Guardians has Pratt? Probably not, but that isn€™t a bad thing nor a criticism. Ant-Man is a small-time hero, and Rudd has managed to bring him into the big leagues, and deserves a lot of credit for doing so.
