8 Upcoming Movie Sequels Destined To Fail

4. Zack Snyder's Justice League

Fantastic Beasts Newt Scamander

Technically a sequel to Batman v Superman, but ultimately a sequel that we've already seen large parts of before, Zack Snyder's Justice League seems sadly on a collision course with failure.

Truth be told, your humble scribe here is looking forward to what Snyder can bring to the table for what the filmmaker originally envisioned for 2017's Justice League. Unfortunately, the director had to step away from Justice League midway through production due to the tragic death of his daughter, with Warner Bros. bringing in Joss Whedon to finish the movie.

From plentiful sources, the end product from Whedon is said to have varied drastically in tone and even narrative to what Snyder had intended. Thus, after a rabid social media campaign from fans, Warner Bros. finally relented a year ago and agreed to fund what is now officially known as Zack Snyder's Justice League.

With reshoots currently taking place, with previously discarded scenes reinstated, and with a renewed focus to go on characters left out in the shade in the '17 cut of the picture, anticipation is high for Snyder's version of the film. The problem is, Warner Bros. has forked out a massive $70 million on putting together this new four-hour cut of Justice League.

Added to that, this cut of the movie will air in four one-hour blocks on HBO Max, and it could well be that financially this could end up being a foolish decision from Warners - particularly given how so many of the studio's intended money-grabbing releases of 2020 have been pushed back to next year.
