8 Upcoming Movie Sequels Destined To Fail

2. Indiana Jones 5

Fantastic Beasts Newt Scamander

Do we really need another Indiana Jones movie? The sad truth is no, we don't.

The last Indy outing - 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - brought in plenty of eyes on its way to amassing an impressive $800 million at the box office, but so much of the financial success of the film came from anticipation and playing on the memories of those who'd grown up with the adventures of Dr. Henry Walton Jones, Jr.

Just hearing that a new Indiana Jones movie was in cinemas was enough to get people into theaters, yet so many of those people let those same theaters with a sense of disappointed bewilderment. Despite it being great to see Harrison Ford back in the saddle as the iconic Indy, the film just fell flat and left so many wishing they'd saved their money.

So, with audiences burned by their Kingdom of the Crystal Skull experience, it's tough to imagine that those same people will be flocking to hand over their money for another Indiana Jones picture. But still, here we are, with a fifth silver screen Indy outing now tentatively set for early 2022.

With the film having already undergone several script issues, and with Steven Spielberg earlier this year deciding against directing the movie, things don't look great right now for this next Indy offering.
