8 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Are Doomed To Fail

Universal Pictures/Velvet Cinema

Remember when Arnold Schwarzenegger came "back", bringing his most famous cinematic role with him? Remember how excited we all were? Remember how soul-crushingly disappointing the atrocious Terminator Genisys was? The memory is still painful.

And if Arnie's return to his most popular franchise failed so spectacularly, is there any way that Triplets - sequel to a far-less beloved property, Twins - can find success?

The movie is set to reunite Arnie with Danny DeVito, twin brothers who discover they have another sibling - Eddie Murphy. Besides the fact that DeVito and Murphy haven't done anything notable in years and aren't exactly in their prime, the concept of a slapstick family-friendly comedy seems completely out of touch when R-rated, cruder comedies are the ones dominating multiplexes every single year.

Plus, Twins was poorly received when it came out. It's an okay movie. It was never a high bar for comedy or a high point in Arnie's career, so revisiting the series can only result in a commercial and critical disaster.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
