2. They'll Finally Make A Monkey Out Us - War Of The Planet Of The Apes

It rose. It dawned. And yet it still didn't quite arrive. We're two films into the rebooted Planet Of The Apes continuity and despite the new timeline ostensibly being all about what happened while Charlton Heston was asleep, it's been a very placid development, with each film ambling its way to the ruined future. Well, with part three (the number at which the original Planet run starting turning sour) Fox is promising that we'll finally be getting to see the apes take over Earth, as opposed to bickering amongst themselves while humans sit around being clearly evil. Basically a remake of Battle For The Planet Of The Apes (the series' weakest aside from Tim Burton's effort, but also one of the most interesting in story concept), War Of The Planet Of The Apes, even this early in development, promises to be the key turning point in that most unnatural of battles - ape vs. man. This is actually the movie that Fox wanted to make straight after Rise Of The..., but Matt Reeves instead wanted to go a bit earlier with the in-fighting heavy Dawn Of The..., which the money-hungry execs keen to stretch things out for as long as possible jumped at the chance for. In 2017 we'll finally get to where we were meant to be in 2014.
