8 Upcoming Movies That Will Be Nothing Like You're Expecting

1. It's Not Going To Happen - Fantastic Four 2

A sequel to the Fantastic Four reboot has been on the cards for a very long time, with Josh Trank's Fant4stic always envisioned as the jumping off point for a massive franchise. But that was before everyone saw it. A disastrous movie that treats a coherent narrative like an optional extra and boasts technical glitches a movie a tenth of this cost shouldn't have, it's one of the worst superhero movies ever made. Despite the deserved savaging of the first movie though, Fant8stic (hey, it's no dumbed than the name for the original) is still currently sitting on Fox's upcoming slate for 2017. There's already been some shifts with the sequel - its proposed release date is likely to be pushed back - and in the weeks leading up to Fant4stic all those involved were very wary about stating anything concrete, betraying fears over the impending critical onslaught, but ostensibly saving face for when it doesn't happen. Of course, nobody's going to deny the possibility of another movie straight away (unless Josh Trank gets Tweet-happy again), but don't be surprised if in a couple of months everyone's stopped even entertaining the the prospect of a sequel. After all, with that hoped-for X-Men crossover now seemingly replaced by Deadpool 2, it's clear that plans for universe expansion have already been nixed. After having to slog through all 106 minutes of Fant4stic (even waiting for a non-existent post-credits scene), I couldn't be happier. Like this article?
