8 Upcoming Movies That Will Be Nothing Like You're Expecting

2. It'll Be Regarded As A Disappointment (No Matter What) - Star Wars: The Force Awakens

There's no movie more anticipated than Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a film that's already riding such a wave of hype that the simple mention of its name is enough to get even the most passive fan giddy. It's all but guaranteed to be event cinema at its most epic - no film this millennium has been subject to such extensive pre-release excitement. In fact, the last time a movie was this highly anticipated was Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Oh... and there's the problem. The Phantom Menace had incredibly well put together trailers and the promise of a melding of old and new, inciting strong feelings in life-long Star Wars fans, only to arrive as an incomparable disappointment. There's no Lucas and no Jar Jar this time around, so the odds of The Force Awakens being actively bad is low, but the operative word here is "disappointment". Even if Episode VII is as good as the original trilogy, it's going to be a let down. It is, at the end of the day, just a movie, but the way it's getting lauded as some cinematic second coming elevates hopes that it'll be paradoxically beyond that. This isn't an indictment that the film and you should by no means stop pouring over the trailers (I won't), but it'll be worth bearing this incomparable hype in mind come December 18th.
