The Reshoots

Earlier this month Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson posted a tweet wishing Robert Downey Jr. Happy Birthday while dressed up in their Men in Black regalia, indicating reshoots were underway on the upcoming reboot-sequel, which is due for release on June 14.

Fans recently campaigned for Sony to remove Liam Neeson from the film in reshoots following his foot-in-mouth PR gaffe back in February, though that doesn't appear to be the impetus behind this additional photography (to say nothing of the cost of reshooting his scenes with another actor).

What They Mean

It's not that uncommon for blockbuster films to schedule a few days of pick-ups mere months away from release. This typically indicates that only some minor editing changes are required to tighten up scenes and perhaps capture shots that weren't recorded in principal photography.

After all, primary shooting was completed last October, so the production has had a long time to regroup and discover problems in editing.

Though MIB: International doesn't exactly look like a great film, these reshoots don't indicate a troubled production, especially as they were quietly undertaken without much word from the press.
