8 Upcoming Sequels Nobody Ever Thought Would Happen

3. Triplets

"Wait," you're thinking. "This infernal excuse for a movie has supposedly been in the works for years, and it never amounts to anything. What gives?"

And you're completely right to think that, because Triplets - an unnecessary sequel to the 1980s comedy hit Twins, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito - has been talked up countless times since it was first proposed back in 2012. Every time it seems close to actually happening, there's a conflict of some kind, and the production retreats into the darkness for a few months or years.

But now Triplets is happening, for real this time, and - according to the IMDb - has entered its pre-production stage, which means that "the project is financed, locations are being scouted, people are being hired and production is imminent with a fairly firm start date for filming." In other words, Triplets is finally getting made.

There's also been further confirmation from Arnold Schwarzenegger, who confirmed earlier this month that the script is locked in, Eddie Murphy been officially cast, and filming will commence in 2018. Murphy, of course, is set to play the third brother of the movie's title, who will reveal his existence for the purpose of comic goofs.

It's hard to know whether to laugh or cry: this film has always seemed so unattainable, so far away, and now we're able to sit back and look forward to its inevitable 41% rating on Rotten Tomatoes next year. What a world!
