8 Villains For The MCU Spider-Man (And Who Should Play Them)
4. Kraven The Hunter - Gerard Butler
Kraven the Hunter was once just a B-grade, gimmicky supervillain but classic comics story Kraven's Last Hunt raised the character to one of Spidey's most interesting antagonists. A big game hunter who is more animal than man, he is obsessed with defeating Spider-Man who he considers to be the greatest quarry of all. In his most seminal story, he actually manages to put the web slinger in an early grave! As such, Kraven needs to be played by someone who looks the part of a hugely intimidating and powerful foe, who is as brawny as Spidey is lean. Besides that, he needs to be given a nuanced portrayal, as he is at risk of becoming a cartoon (his jungle threads would probably have to go, as well). Going by these pointers and the look of the character, Gerard Butler stands out as a great choice for the part. And it's not just because of the beard. Just thinking of his most famous role as Leonidas in 300, for example, Butler would be perfect to play another noble warrior like Kraven. He might be a bit of an obvious choice, granted, but that doesn't mean he is a bad one.
