8 Villains For The MCU Spider-Man (And Who Should Play Them)
3. Venom - Will Poulter
Despite Topher Grace's Eddie Brock from Spider-Man 3 being near-universally criticised, the idea of Eddie as a twisted version of Peter Parker is a great one and is actually faithful to - some of - the comics. While in the mainstream Marvel comics Eddie Brock is a huge brute even before joining with the Venom symbiote, in the now-defunct Ultimate universe he is a childhood friend of Peter's. As such, the MCU Spidey movie could go down the latter route and cast a younger actor whose age matches up with Holland's. At the top of the list for fitting this description would be Will Poulter. Though he started in comedic roles like Eustace in The Chronicles Of Narnia, Poulter has branched out into more dramatic fare as his career has taken off. You might have seen him recently in Leonardo Di Caprio's The Revenant. While he hasn't played a role like Venom before, Poulter clearly has enough acting chops to pull off a complex character like Brock. Apparently, Poulter's dream job is to at some point play the Joker, but I'm sure Marvel could persuade him to take on the role of Spider-Man's nemesis instead.
