8 Ways Batman V Superman Could Be A Total Let Down

6. It's Too Soon For Doomsday

When Doomsday was initially rumoured to be the lead villain in Batman v Superman, no one believed it. Further details later emerged which claimed that Lex Luthor inadvertently creates the devastating creature when he tinkers with the body of General Zod, and as character's remains were shown in LexCorp in the latest trailer, those reports have seemingly been confirmed. However, introducing Doomsday at such an early stage is a huge mistake. In the comics, he's responsible for killing Superman in an epic Metropolis set battle which concluded with one of the most memorable and iconic pieces of comic book imagery in history. What followed was admittedly pretty terrible, but even if they decided against killing the Man of Steel, Doomsday is definitely a villain who could have held a movie by himself. Instead, he's probably now going to canon fodder for an early iteration of the Justice League and introduced and disposed of in the movie's final act As a result, Doomsday just seems like an extremely lazy choice of villain. They needed to give Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman someone to hit, and a mindless beast was obviously the easiest option. A battle suit wearing Lex Luthor or even someone like Metallo would have been much better and would have no doubt added something to the story. The fact that Doomsday is going to need a trio - possibly more - of heroes to bring him down points to the villain still being a formidable foe in Batman v Superman, but it's hard to escape the feeling that he would have been better off saved as a main course in a future movie rather than just an appetiser as Warner Bros. continue to build towards the creation of their new DC Extended Universe.
