5. They're Fun
Each and every time anyone involved with the upcoming DC Comics movies has been asked to describe what fans should expect, words like "dark", "gritty", and "realistic" have predictably been featured more heavily than others. While Marvel tends to sometimes go a little too far with comedy, the DC movies look so glum and humourless that Zack Snyder at one point was forced to promise that they will have some levity! However, there's no chance any of them are going to embrace the campiness of the source material in a way which works as well as what the TV shows have done. Wentworth Miller's over the top performance as Captain Cold is a thing of brilliance in The Flash, while Mark Hamill's recent appearance as The Trickster was tremendous fun. Even Gotham has delivered in this respect (albeit with some mixed results). The kind of approach which is being taken to the DC Cinematic Universe makes it impossible to bring in characters like these as they'd stick out like a sore thumb. While no one wants a Batman comedy, it's a shame that The Joker has gone from Clown Prince of Crime to...well, whatever that is we're getting in Suicide Squad! The tone of the movies means that the TV shows will remain the place to go for stories which are FUN.
