8 Ways Deadpool Is Changing The Game

7. It€™s Now Perfectly Fine To Cover Your Hero€™s Face In A Mask For Most Of The Movie

Watch almost any mainstream superhero movie and you'll see their heroes tend to lose their masks in one or more battles during the film. Or simply get attacked when they're in their civvies. Wolverine never even got the chance to wear one! That's because it's another studio-mandated decision, made by executives who assume people are going to the film to see the pretty A-listers under the masks. By that logic, why would you leave it covered up by a silly cowl? Deadpool flipped the bird to that in two ways; not only does Deadpool keep his mask intact whilst fighting all his enemies, but on the occasions (post-origin story) when he does remove the mask, it obviously reveals the horrifically scarred visage of an "avocado hate-f*cking an older avocado". When it comes to a choice between seeing Ryan Reynolds' nauseatingly-realistic prosthetic make-up or a red mask, most would choose the mask. The thing that Hollywood should realise now is, that's fine! We all know who's under the mask. We can all hear his voice. The mask can even emote, with the help of some CG wizardry. And so far there's been no telling complaints from the public at large.
