8 Ways New Suicide Squad Trailer Made You Change Your Mind
8. It Doesn't Look Anywhere Near As Bleak As It's Been Made Out To Be
First things first, then. The initial teaser trailer for Suicide Squad presented a motion picture that was dark, bleak and very, very serious - too serious, even. For a lot of fans of the Suicide Squad comic books, it didn't feel very much akin to the source material, and there were fears that writer/director David Ayer might have taken things a bit too far with all the misery. Lo and behold, the first official trailer is unveiled and it's like a totally different movie; having seen that first teaser, it almost feels as though the initial version was scrapped and the entire production was started over again from scratch. Suicide Squad now appears to have the tone of something like Guardians of the Galaxy; a freewheeling funhouse of a picture that refuses to take itself seriously at all. There are quips, gags, funny asides, overblown action sequences and a sense of... well, fun! For anybody who envisioned that the final movie would play like the superhero version of Se7en, the latest footage has surely convinced them otherwise. What a shocker!
