4. Marvel Vs DC
What is the natural progression of the age of the team-up and crossover? As unfathomable as it seems, the eventual merging of DC and Marvel characters could be a projection of where were heading. Maybe we should get the possible Sony/Fox/MCU crossover out of the way first but theres nothing to say that one day the legal and creative barriers that complicate such possibilities will no longer exist. A Marvel Vs DC movie in the same vein as the 90s crossover event feels like an unwieldy prospect but considering where we are now who could rule it out? If the ultimate cinematic crossover event were ever to take place, then the likeliest platform would be in a team-up versus team-up: Avengers V JLA film. How such a storyline would play out is anyone's guess but applying the ideological opposition used to illustrate the relationships between characters like Captain America and Iron man could be used as a fitting template. This would result in characters from each universe, engaging in individual battles against their archetypal equivalent. As corny and far-fetched as the idea may first appear, seeing tech-augmented characters like Iron man and Cyborg in a "whose got the best gadgetry?" duel is the stuff fanboy dreams are made of. If this Marvel vs DC project followed the same trajectory as the 90s comic crossover event then it would also lead to the birth of the Amalgam universe. The world may be ready for Marvel Vs DC it may even be ready for Wolverine/Batman hybrid the Dark Claw but whether or not it is ready for Lobo the Duck is another matter entirely.
