5. Dr. Gordon Is Jigsaw's Secret Apprentice - Saw

Dr Gordon wasn’t looking too hot at the end of Saw, since he was bleeding to death after cutting his foot off. His fate wasn’t revealed during the following sequels, so naturally fans speculated about what happened to the good doctor.

The filmmakers claimed it was up to the viewer to decide what happened, but evidence within the sequels pointed to Gordon helping Jigsaw, like the grainy video footage in Saw II of a limping figure operating on a victim. The chances of actor Cary Elwes returning looked slim, though, since he sued the producers of Saw over a salary dispute.

The question of Gordon’s fate still hung the series the more it dragged on, so there was rejoicing when it was confirmed Elwes would return for the final movie, Saw 3D. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing comeback; he barely appears, and the reveal that he was Jigsaw’s apprentice is half-hearted.

The producers gave fans exactly the twist they expected, and no more. It doesn’t even explain why Gordon would be willing to help Jigsaw, considering the hell he went through in the first movie.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
