5. Mary Goodnight (Britt Ekland) - The Man With The Golden Gun
Had she been appearing in one of the lesser films in the franchise, Britt Ekland mightve passed muster as a Bond girl (discuss), but in The Man With The Golden Gun she has to hold her own against Christopher Lee, against whom she seems a bit of a flyweight. Lee is one of the all-time great Bond villains, capable of holding your attention with subtle gestures rather than grandiose speeches, but when he does speak you damn sure listen. Then theres Eklands Mary Goodnight who.wears a bikini. For most of the film. Playing second banana to Ms Ekland is Maud Adams as Lees doomed lover, who does a lot more with a lot less. During her scenes with Lee, which are played with minimal dialogue, you can see the fear in her eyes. When he kidnaps Ekland, youre reminded that in The Wicker Man, their last film together, her performance had to be dubbed.
