9 Abandoned Sequel Plots That Sound Better Than The Movies We Got

8. Peter Jackson's A Nightmare On Elm Street 6

Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare was supposed to be – like the title indicates – the last Freddy movie, but it obviously didn’t work out that way. The movie itself is the worst of the series and is hamstrung by horrible “quirky” comedy and a massive lame 3-D finale.

Before New Line settled on that version they asked a young director named Peter Jackson – known at that stage for Bad Taste and Meet The Feebles – to write a script. Jackson’s story involved Freddy being seen as a joke by people. In the dream world, he's become a decrypt old man who has lost his powers since nobody finds him scary, and teenagerss actively take sleeping pills to enter his domain and beat him up.

Eventually, he summons the power to kill one, which restores his power. He then begins to stalk a policeman who falls into a coma, and the cop has to use the dream world to his advantage to stay alive.

The idea of a Freddy movie helmed by Jackson during his comic horror heydey is almost too beautiful to imagine, and it's a real pity his creative concept was tossed out.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
