See Her In: Ex Machina Look Out For Her In: The Light Between Oceans; a Jason Bourne sequel (as yet untitled) Another performer at home in both box-office and smaller fare, Swedish actress, Alicia Vikander, turned in one of the great female performances of the decade in Ex Machina this year, the actress stunning and sensual as an AI robot longing for the outside world. (She also starred in The Man From U.N.C.L.E to prove she's just as comfortable with the popcorn crowd.) In 2016 she will look to continue her ascent in both styles, starting with the Danish Girl on January 1st, a Tom Hooper film which has Oscar bait written all over it. Then, there's the untitled Bourne sequel, which the actress is currently filming and which will surely provide her with her biggest box-office smash to date. Add to that Derek Cianfrance's (Blue Valentine, The Place Behind the Pines) The Light Between Oceans, and Submergence, a film by iconic German visionary, Wim Wenders, and you get the sense that Vikander, across the board, could be the actress of 2016.
