9 Actors Who Could Be The Breakout Stars Of 2016

7. Tye Sheridan

See Him In: Mud Look Out For Him In: X-Men: Apocalypse A debut role in Terence Malick's The Tree of Life, followed by two fantastic turns for indie directors Jeff Nichols (Mud) and David Gordon Green (Joe), have set Tye Sheridan well on his way to becoming on of cinema's most exciting young talents. While Sheridan will continue to feature in similar fare in 2016 - Christopher Smith's Detour, Alexandre Moors' The Yellow Birds, alongside Jennifer Aniston - it's his upcoming role in X-Men Apocalypse that will really see the actor potentially break through, with Sheridan taking on the vaunted role of Scott Summers/Cyclops for his first taste of a major Hollywood blockbuster. An intense performer at only 19, Sheridan is at his best when playing alienated, mature-beyond-their-years characters, often fatherless ones left to fend for themselves (see: Mud, Joe). This has given the actor a style which veers somewhere between tough and vulnerable, so it will be interesting to see how he adapts this for the X-Men.
