9 Actors Who Were Cut Out Of Movies For Ridiculous Reasons

4. James Purefoy Forgets His Character Wears A Mask Throughout V For Vendetta

James Purefoy was cast as the mysterious masked protagonist in V For Vendetta but was replaced early in production... because he didn't like wearing a mask.

Did he even read the screenplay, or the original graphic novel, for that matter?

The actor was replaced by Hugo Weaving six weeks into production - surely Purefoy should have taken his distaste for masks into account at some point before that.

The official reason for the departure was later declared as "creative differences".

Perhaps Purefoy went into the project thinking he could convince the filmmakers to alter the source material so the hero's face is on show throughout, like Stallone did when he butchered Judge Dredd.
