9 Awesome Supporting Characters Who Should Have Their Own Spin-Off

9. John Blake - The Dark Knight Rises

The Character: Robin "John" Blake was, along with Miranda Tate, one of the most scrutinised characters in The Dark Knight Rises pre-release. After all, here was totally new character in what appears to be a central role. There must be more than meets the eye. And while pretty much everyone was ready for Miranda's Talia reveal, quite what Nolan had in-store for the GCPD rookie was more up in the air. It ended up that John was Bruce Wayne's chosen replacement of the Batman mantle. Whether it was their similar background (Blake is also an orphan) or his amazing detective skills (we're still in awe that he figured out who Batman really was), Bruce saw something in him that would make him rise to the challenge. Why A Spin-Off Would Be Awesome: The possibility of a new Batman coming in to replace Bruce Wayne is something never looked at on film, but has some exciting precedent in the comics; while Wayne recovered from Bane's Bat-breaking following the iconic Knightfall arc, Jean-Paul Valley took up the cape and cowl and slowly turned into a bit of psychopath. It'd have been a dark route to take, but who wouldn't have wanted to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a crazed Batman killing criminals? Now the D.C. movie continuity has locked The Dark Knight Trilogy away in favour of Snyder's washed out landscapes and Batfleck, whatever hope there was of this has gone, which is a shame given how cool would a film about Blake becoming the next Batman would have been.
