9 Awful Characters Who Nearly Ruined Awesome Movies

4. David - Shaun Of The Dead

Emma Frost
Universal

When the end of the world appears to have kicked off and actual zombies are ripping your neighbourhood to shreds, the last thing you should have to worry about is your girlfriend's annoying mate putting you down at every given opportunity.

Questioning and resisting Shaun and his plan throughout Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's flesh-eating horror comedy, Shaun of the Dead, David is precisely the last person you want around in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. If largely hiding away from the zombie killing action and clearly being in love with Liz (the aforementioned girlfriend) whilst already being in a relationship wasn't enough, the fact David suddenly found his will to kill when Shaun's mother was bitten left most fans wishing this prick had been ripped to shreds whilst trying to flee Liz's apartment.

Luckily, they didn't have too wait much longer for this to happen as, after Shaun heartbreakingly puts his mother out of her misery, David astoundingly attempts to shoot the lead with a rifle before getting a little too close to the Winchester's windows and becoming zombie fodder.

Shaun of the Dead still sits as one of the finest zombie features of all time and set the bar for horror comedies in many ways. However, the soul-crushing presence of David in the film very nearly irreparably infected this otherwise enjoyable gore-fest.
