4. Poltergeist: Multiple Untimely Deaths

Tobe Hooper’s vintage spook fest Poltergeist was marred by two sad incidents in the wake of its release, leading some to called the production cursed.

The movie's young lead Heather O’Rourke died at just 12-years-old due to complications related to a medical misdiagnosis, while her co-star Dominique Dunne was murdered by an ex-boyfriend the year the film was released.

There's an urban legend going around that Poltergeist incurred this death curse because Hooper used real skeletons as props while shooting the film. To make such a claim could be considered tasteless considering two youngsters lost their lives, but misfortune did seem to follow the supernatural series as it spawned sequels.

Poltergeist 2's late stars Will Sampson and Julian Beck are also believed to have fallen victim to the so-called curse, along with a Native American shaman.
