9 Best Changes Stephen King Movies Made From The Books

IT's recent big-screen adaptations were both roaring successes, and proved that King's work is still just as relevant - and profitable - as ever.

The original novel was published in 1986, and the two parts were set in 1957 and 1984 respectively. While the 27 year gap is central to the story, the decision to bring the dates forward to appeal more directly to modern audiences was undoubtedly the right one.

Given the critical success of King-esque Stranger Things, also set in the '80s, it would have been madness not to capitalise on the recent wave of '80s nostalgia, and it also allowed the movie's second part, It: Chapter 2, to be set in the present day, again giving the audience an easy time relating to the characters.

While King's story is still the focus, and little else was changed, the modernising of minor elements was all it took to ensure the movies would be a box office success. There was only one other major change the movies made from King's novel, though, coming soon...
