9 Best Movies Announced This Week (Jan 20th)
Hunchback, Ghostbusters 3 and Monopoly anyone?
January may be classed as a bit of a quiet period for movies, with focus mostly lavished on the Oscars, but the world of movie news never sleeps and already in 2019, fans have seen a number of hugely exciting projects announced. There's a sequel of one of the most beloved franchises of all time coming, a possible new MCU and yet another live-action Disney remake.
Inevitably, not all of the movies that get announced end up getting to the big screen, but it's a safe bet that MOST of the highlights of this past week will. And if so, we're in for some serious treats.
There was also a Just Dance movie announced this week, but that probably doesn't count as the Best of anything. So let's move on to the ones that are actually setting pulses racing.
Honourable Mention
The New Avengers
After what feels like years of speculation, a strong rumour this week seemingly confirmed that there's a Young Avengers project in the works with Marvel Studios, under the somewhat confusing title The New Avengers.
A source told WGTC that a New Avengers movie is in the early stages of development and that the team will be made up of Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye, Hulkling, Iron Lad, Patriot, Wiccan, Stature and Vision (not Paul Bettany’s version). It's not concrete yet, but the rumour is certainly an interesting one.
The report also says that Emma Fuhrmann’s Cassie Lang will appear as Stature.
