9 Best Movies Announced This Week (Jan 20th)

2. Mission: Impossible 7 & 8

Mission Impossible Ethan Hunt
Paramount Pictures

Release: 2021 and 2022

Having turned Mission: Impossible - Fallout into not only the most enjoyable action movie of the MI franchise but also one of the most impressive action movies of all time, Christopher McQuarrie now has ghe unenviable task of doing it again. Twice.

The director has announced that he's going to be tackling the seventh and eighth chapters in Ethan Hunt's sprawling story, which will be shot back-to-back and will release a year apart starting in 2021.

Presumably, we'll be looking at a two-part story that is broken up by a major cliff-hanger. And we can also no doubt expect to see the revival of The Syndicate - the evil hell-bent on global destruction or dominion or the death of the IMF and Hunt, depending on the time of day. If they can nail the action to the same degree as Fallout, we are all in for a major treat.
