9 Best Movies Announced This Week (Jan 20th)

1. Ghostbusters 3

Release: Summer 2020

It might not have an official title yet, but Jason Reitman's revelation of the secret Ghostbusters sequel, which will ignore the 2016 reboot (for better or worse) confirmed that it would be set in the same timeline as the originals and would be a "passing of the torch" flick.

Follow-up reports suggested that Reitman's story - which is said to have been good enough to enthuse original cast members Dan Aykroyd and BillY Murray so much they're almost certainly involved - will star two teenage boys and two teenage girls. How much of the rest of the original cast return remains to be seen (hopefully everyone who can, including Rick Moranis, will) but Reitman - whose father will produce - talks well of his respect for the original continuity.

Leslie Jones might have called ignoring the reboot "something Trump would do," but it's a simple fact that the 2016 movie made no money and Ghostbusters 2 was a record-breaker when it came out initially. Sony were always bound to follow the money.
