9 Better Villains Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 Should Have Used

There’s nothing more compelling that a good old fashioned power struggle. If Marvel were looking to really cement Thanos as the ultimate evil power in the universe before Infinity War lands, it would probably have been a good idea to show him defeating a powerful rival instead of sulking in his floaty chair.

The Guardians of the Galaxy epitomise the whole ‘wrong place, wrong time’ trope so it would be very fitting to have them caught in the middle of an interplanetary deity war.

Tyrant would have fit the bill perfectly. A crazed space cyborg toting a collection of super weapons and the ability to draw power from super heroes like costumed batteries, his disregard for life and wanton destruction has led to him being described by many as the Devil of the Marvel canon.

This approach would also give the audience more time with Thanos to understand his motivations beyond ‘being an evil dude’ while Quill and the gang do their own thing (until they’re forced to guard the galaxy of course).

Having the Guardians reluctantly swoop in and aid Thanos for the greater good would provide an interesting spin on things and tie them in more closely with the Mad Titan before their inevitable showdown.
