9 Better Villains Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 Should Have Used
5. Blastaar
A huge furry menace that has had numerous run-ins with the Guardians, Blastaar would fit in perfectly with James Gunn’s aesthetic. He may not have the charisma to be a headline villain but his inclusion in the second movie as the right-hand man to a more reserved antagonist (he might even have made up for the use of Ayesha) would have been a great choice.
A trained hand to hand combatant and - as his name suggests - capable with a large selection of weaponry, he could certainly hold his own against the majority of the Guardians. He has also ruled as King of the Negative Zone and his home planet of Baluur, both of which look good on the villainous CV.
There’s plenty of scope for his appearance to add another dimension to the movie’s central conflict. As well as battling with Quill and his team, Blastaar has also been known to switch sides and aid them against greater foes such as Thanos. This mercurial attitude is perfectly in-keeping with the Guardians of the Galaxy, just look how popular Michael Rooker’s Yondu has become.
Unfortunately, fans can only look wistfully ahead and hope that future instalments make the right decision and include this curmudgeonly space yeti.
