9 Changes Warner Bros Wishes It Could Make To Its DC Universe

2. Fewer CGI Characters (Or At Least More Convincing Ones)

LEX LUTHOR LESS WEIRD
Warner Bros.

Between squandering the potential of The Joker to getting Lex Luthor horribly wrong, the DC cinematic universe has something of a villain problem, and it hasn’t helped the situation by depicting some of its antagonists as CGI abominations.

When Doomsday stomped onto the scene in Batman v Superman, he looked more like one of those Cave Trolls from Lord of the Rings than his fearsome comic book counterpart and, worst of all, the effects were no more convincing than the ones used to create those trolls a decade and a half ago.

Suicide Squad suffered from the same problem when it attempted to bring Incubus to life via hamfisted computer animation. He looked like he had arrived in the movie fresh off the set of Brendan Fraser’s The Mummy, unrealistic even by ancient demigod standards.

Poor CGI continues to be a running them in the franchise: just look at Cyborg in Justice League. Given how much this character’s third-rate Terminator design has been slated since the first trailer dropped, Warner Bros no doubt feels it should have prioritised practical effects (or at least better CGI) in hindsight.
