9 Comic Book Characters That Deserve A Shot At Movie Redemption
3. Swamp Thing
Alan Moore’s run on Swamp Thing is among the finest works ever published by DC, a literary saga which dealt with weighty themes like ecology and spirituality.
When master of horror Wes Craven brought the character in cinema in 1982, the results weren’t exactly horrible, but there’s no escaping the fact that Swamp Thing was just another rubber-suit monster film.
While there’s a place for those, its 1989 sequel Return of Swamp Thing is an abomination straight out of the black lagoon and it would be a terrible shame if that ended up being Alec Holland’s final movie outing.
Films based on the work of Moore are often the cinematic equivalent of Marmite, but his Saga of the Swamp Thing series has boundless big screen potential, and might even be one of the most intelligent and thought provoking comic adaptations if Hollywood took the plunge.
