9 Comic Book Characters That Deserve A Shot At Movie Redemption

2. Jonah Hex

There's a lot to love about Jonah Hex - his supernatural background and grizzly appearance set him apart in the Western genre, and this in turn differentiates him from your average comic book protagonist.

These qualities should have translated to a memorable movie outing, but somewhere between the half-baked execution and the casting of Megan Fox, the Josh Brolin-fronted picture collapsed.

Although this hatchet job of a film has left the Western antihero high and dry in the Hollywood desert, there could be a place for him in DC's movie universe.

When DC Comics rebooted its line in 2011 with the New 52 event, Hex was given his own series in the shape of a revamped All-Star Western title, which saw him travel to 1880s Gotham City and team up with Amadeus Arkham.

A loose adaptation of this story arc would give Warner Bros the chance to expand its DC movie universe by delving into its distant past. The Gotham City of old with Western and horror elements mixed in? Who wouldn't want to see that?
