9 Comic Book Movie Moments That Need To Be Retconned

9. Thor's Romance With Jane Foster (Thor)

The Moment: The entire romance between Asgardian Thor and the scientist who assists him, Jane Foster. Why It Needs To Be Retconned: Because it's so ridiculously forced and Marvel have put pretty much zero effort into selling it to audiences. In the first movie, the romance could've been ditched entirely without affecting any part of the narrative: it felt so hilariously arbitrary. The filmmakers put a little more effort into developing the love story in Thor: The Dark World, but it still wasn't easy to buy into, and simply, Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman just don't have much natural chemistry. Will It Be?: It won't be literally retconned, but if rumours are to be believed, Thor and Jane Foster have broken up by the time Age of Ultron takes place, and there are a few lines of dialogue that refer to this. It's no secret that Portman has been wanting to bail from these movies ever since Patty Jenkins didn't end up directing Thor: The Dark World, so perhaps this is Marvel's way of letting her go quietly. It's unlikely the romance will be rekindled for future movies, so now everyone can just forget about how lame this romance was. Plus, isn't Jaimie Alexander's Sif so much more attractive and better-suited to be the object of Thor's affections?
