7. Betty Ross As A Love Interest (The Incredible Hulk)
The Moment: Through 2008's The Incredible Hulk, Betty Ross is set up to be Bruce Banner's love interest moving forward, and frankly, little should have changed there. Why It Needs To Be Retconned: Marvel Studios seem quite keen to distance themselves from this movie even though it's a vital part of the MCU and even had Tony Stark make a post-credits cameo. As such, there's nothing to suggest that Betty has merely been erased from Bruce's life, and so when Bruce resurfaced as The Hulk in New York in The Avengers, where was Betty? And given that he doesn't really need to hide as a member of The Avengers, why hasn't he dropped in on her yet? Betty almost certainly won't be coming back, and so it makes sense for Marvel to just put this one to bed once and for all, the most drastic step of which would be to kill Betty off, and show Bruce mourning at her grave. Will It Be?: Not in a formal way, no, because Marvel are just happy to pretend that she pretty much fell of the face of the Earth and more casual audiences have forgotten about her anyway. That said, with Bruce reportedly having a thing with Black Widow in Age of Ultron and possibly beyond, they've pretty much steamrolled Bruce's most iconic romantic partner anyway.
