9 Comic Book Movies That Almost Had Way Better Endings

1. The One Without The Anal Joke - Kingsman: The Secret Service

For the most part, Kingsman was a fun, entertaining and amusingly adult-orientated foray into the comic book movie genre, but there was one part of the film that didn't sit well with the majority of audience members: the ending. Moments before the final battle, hero Eggsy encounters a Swedish princess locked in a cell at a secret base who promises him that, should he successfully save the world, she'll let him "do it in the assh*le." At the end of the film, Eggsy goes back for the princess, of course... and she actually goes through with her promise. How clever... Thing is, the scene just doesn't work: there's a nasty, macho, lads magazine sensibility to the whole bit that gives it a horribly dated feel. It's a shame to learn, then, that there once existed a version of Kingsman that didn't end with this: according to director Matthew Vaughn, it had the princess offering to give Eggsy a kiss if he saved the world instead. After playing around in the edit, Vaughn ultimately opted for the cruder gag because he felt the kiss was boring - boring as it is, though, it's still a superior ending (and one of the few times that a "safer" ending was actually better).
