9 Devastating Horror Movie Deaths You Couldn't Look Away From

4. 28 Days Later - Frank

28 Days Later Franks Death
Fox

Frank is the kindly father of Hannah, played by the wonderful . He is met by Jim and Selena as they escape from a horde of infected rage virus victims, where they manage to take refuge in the small barricaded flat the father and daughter are living in.

Though Frank's time in the film is somewhat brief, he is quickly a lovable character. He clearly loves his daughter fiercely, while he also acts as both a father figure and voice of reason for both Jim, who is still struggling to make sense of this new world he's woken up in, and Selena, who has been surviving thanks to her battle-mode being constantly activated.

His death is one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the movie, serving the dual purpose of destroying the audiences' hope, while also demonstrating a new, insidious way for the virus to pass. A single drop of blood falls from a corpse into Frank's eye and it is enough to infect him. Knowing instantly that it's over for him, he tells Hannah how much he loves her, while also begging her to stay away.

His transformation is rapid and were it not for soldiers "saving" the group in the nick of time, there is no telling how much damage this kind man could have done to the others.
