9 Dumbest Weapons In Sci-Fi Movies

2. Bat'Leth (Star Trek Movies)

The Star Trek franchise is a constant tight rope act, walking the line between being truly great hard sci fi, and being nowhere near as smart as it constantly declares itself to be. One definite example of the latter of those two winning out is the design of the Bat'Leth, signature weapon of the Klingons.

The Klingons are, by nature, a warrior race, so the design of the Bat'Leth is mind boggling on multiple levels. For one, even assuming that this is a good weapon to use at all, it's primary use would be defensive. You have to hold it with two hands, and the position of the handles means you have to hold it in a blocking stance. There's basically no leverage with this weapon, meaning that a Klingon has to try way harder than normal just to cause any real damage with this thing.

Whenever the Star Trek movies or shows feature a Klingon fight scene involving one of these weapons, it looks so awkward, because of course it's awkward. It's a horribly designed weapon that any "true warrior" would throw in the garbage in favor of a normal sword.
