9 Famous Movie Moments Unbelievably Nailed On The First Take

1. Pretty Much The Entire Movie Is A Series Of First Takes - Primer

If you haven't seen Primer, don't watch it unless you're in the mood for something that requires you to pay the most attention to it, like, ever. That's not a criticism of the film itself: it's a warning intended to convey the insanely complex and head-scratching nature of Primer's time travel-based plot, which will keep you thinking on it for weeks and weeks.

The movie, written and directed by Shane Carruth, was made on an incredibly low-budget back in 2004, but it was also shot on 16mm. As a result, Carruth essentially only had enough cash to buy exactly the right amount of celluloid to shoot the movie. After extensive storyboarding, rehearsing and planning, it pretty much came down to having one take for every single shot, and that's it. No room for error; no money for re-shooting the scene.

Which means that Primer is a movie built out of first takes and first takes alone; almost every single shot in the movie is the first and only take of that given shot, which is baffling and impressive in equal measure.
