9 Famous Movie Moments Unbelievably Nailed On The First Take

2. Shadowfax Does Exactly What He's Supposed To On The First Take - The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers

They say never work with children or animals, though you get that sense that working with animals would be a lot harder. They don't even speak English.

There are a lot of animals in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - namely horses. And the Lord of all Horses, of course, is Shadowfax - Gandalf the White's faithful steed. You'll remember that, in one scene in The Two Towers, Ian McKellen whistles to summon the great white beast from across the fields and to his side. This is the kind of scene that a director might book an entire day to get right, predicting the inevitable difficulties.

In the case of The Two Towers, though, the horse playing Shadowfax, "Blanco," did exactly what he was supposed to on the very first take: he galloped majestically across the fields in that beautiful half-moon shape, before turning and coming to stop at Gandalf's outstretched arm. No CGI here, folks. Just a whole lot of luck.
