6. Something Sinister? - Morbius
When Sony announced that development on a standalone Venom movie would continue as planned following their deal with Marvel Studios to have Spider-Man appear in the MCU, groans and eye rolls ensued. A standalone Spider-Man villain movie by the guys who almost killed Spider-Man... lovely.
In what has become a running theme with entries on this list, however, Venom was a runaway success. Performing decently at the box office and garnered moderate, if not still better than expected, critical success. With this success, Sony greenlit their next solo Spidey villain foray, Morbius the living vampire.
It's safe to say that after expectations were decently defied with Venom, there is cause to be optimistic about Morbius. The second instalment of what is reportedly going to become a 'VillainVerse' of lesser-known Spider-Man villains, it would be a safe bet that Morbius would begin sewing the seeds of everybody's favourite Spider-Man bad guy team, the Sinister Six.
The 'Avengers' of the budding VillainVerse, it's almost guaranteed at this point that The Sinister Six will rear their head in this universe in one way or another. With Spider-Man having one of the greatest rogues' galleries in comic books, the first mention of this supervillain team is sure to wet the appetite of fans.
