9 Female DC Superheroes Who Also Deserve Solo Movies
7. Supergirl
OK, not only is Supergirl an obvious choice, but she's also very much in the spotlight now with her TV series on The CW. But hey, if DC thinks it's OK to have two different interpretations of Flash running around, what's the harm in having two Kara Zor-Els just to mess with the casuals?
Kara has already sort of been established in the DCEU through a prequel tie-in comic to Man of Steel, which shows that it was her spaceship that Clark finds in the Canadian Arctic, but her own fate is left unknown. Whether the movies decide to honour this set-up or not, Supergirl has plenty of potential within this universe whether as part of a sequel to Man of Steel or in her own feature.
Many have complained that Henry Cavill's Superman is too gloomy and lacking in fun, so what better way to balance that out by introducing his optimistic and spunky cousin?
Now obviously you can get your Supergirl fix by watching her TV series and, if you haven't already checked it out, it's well worth the watch. It's a fun and uplifting series that captures the spirit of Superman better than most of his movies have in recent years.
But unless you're a sadistic completist, stay away from the 1984 film version. It might have been the first female-led superhero movie, but it's arguably still the worst DC movie ever made.
