9 Films DC Should Make Before Flashpoint

7. A True Superman Film

One of the (very, very) few saving graces of Justice League was its retcon of the Superman character. While accomplished in a sloppy and hamfisted fashion, the end result was a Superman who was much closer to his comic counterpart. A Superman film following the events of Justice League would not only be immensely pleasing to Superman fans the world over, it would also provide critical pathos to the Flashpoint film.

In the alternate universe of Flashpoint, Superman has been captured and held in captivity since his initial landing on Earth as a child. As a result, he is little more than a shriveled up creature who is rarely if ever exposed to the yellow sun he so direly needs.

In order for us to care about this development, we must first care about Superman. Though he has already received two films in the DCEU, between Man of Steel and BvS, they were much more interested in portraying him as an outsider among men than they were in giving us anything close to the true blue boy scout.

A real Superman film would allow audiences to fall in love with the character and truly feel the juxtaposition between the two timelines in a meaningful way. Without it, it'll just come off as another take on sad Supes.
